The Sounds of the Coqui’s

Hi dolls.

Welp, its 9pm here in PR and everyone is in bed. LOL. So far I have gone to the beach. Boqueron Beach to be exact. One of the most beautiful beaches here in PR, in my humble opinion. Oh and went out to dinner at Galloways Restaurant on the water. The black birds were trying to steal our food. Lol. Thieves! Great time! I feel so disconnected from the world right now so high up the mountainous region of Anasco. I didn’t even watch The Oscars or BBW! Gasp! I needed this disconnect from everything. Hell, I didn’t even wear half of what I brought its so damn hot out here! I have to admit, unless you are going to club here, looking for a man or in the hotels, you have no business in four inch heels and nice clothes. Can we say shorts and flip flops! My God! Even my hair didn’t survive. Lol. Oh I almost forgot about those damn coquis. Coquing all night long. Don’t let me start on the roosters at 4 am from all across the island harmonizing. Smh I am sure the world knows now that silence bugs me. I’m a New Yorker!

Gladiators Taking Over Puerto Rico!

Hey huns!

Off to Puerto Rico, La Isla de Encanto. And I packed my high heeled Jesus heels wit me. Lol. Ok. They are gladiators, but that is what I envision the women during Jesus’ time to have worn. Lol.

Last minute packing I realized that I didn’t have relaxed feeling shoes. Everything I own is four inches or better. I made a last ditch effort and made my way to Marshalls. I hate that store for a lot of reasons, but I was desperate. And guess what ? SCORE! BCBG wedges for $40 originally $70 and Sam Edelman platforms that were $100 for $40 bucks as well. Pictures this week, I promise.

Anyway, I’m off!

Nail Polish: Essie- Navigate Her.

Going to Puerto Rico for a week. Was looking for my favorite go to vacation nail color by Essie-Turquoise and Caicos. Welp, my favorite mani spot in Brooklyn, Polish Nail on Fifth Avenue and Sterling Place didn’t have it anymore. ( cursing ) What makes it worse is that I own a bottle of Tuquoise and Caicos but figured they would have one. Anyway, I decided to try a spring green. I knicked it a bit because I can’t stay still too long in one place, especially to dry my nails.

Hey there!  So here I am! This is my personal style and what I wore to work today. Off duty my style is eclectic and funky and I try to incorporate some (not all) of that funkyness on duty, as I work in a law firm. That some times, well most times,  doesnt work. I love colors and prints. I can’t help it! So I stand out like a sore thumb in a room full of suits.

It was so nice outside in the city today and I got a little excited. LOL. I hate the cold. Spring is around the corner! So I decided to wear a tank. Like I said previously in one of my posts, I love winterizing my peep toe shoes and dresses and shorts, hell everything!  And if you were skeptical about trying out the whole stockings + shoe thing, as you can see, it works. Try it! At the office, I do keep a closet full of blazers to dress up or sophisticate an outift that may be too out there. Although not pictured, in the office I covered my tank with a black tuxedo blazer by Old Navy.

I love love love my Marco Santi heels for Sole Society (<— click link for more info). Sole Society is a shoe club and if you are up on them, waaaaaayy better than Shoedazzle.  I got them last year and they are so comfy and made of real suede and need I repeat $49.95! I love the color and it gives a pop to outfits. It’s real suede. And I gets tons of compliments on these when I wear them.

McQueen!

London Fashion Week definitely has not disappointed. Alexander McQueen AW 2012. This is what I wanted to see at NYFW not the somewhat yawn that I saw from usual favorites.  Bring the DRAMA! The trench coat is so beautifully constructed and I love the way it flares out! OMG and that dress! What a statement piece. EXQUISITE! Check out my favorite looks from the McQueen collection here.

This trench coat from Kate Spade is bananas!!!!!!! Rachel Zoe, sorry I had to steal your word! Love this trench. It’s sooo sexy. It’s soo me! It’s soo expensive. LOL! But I love it!  But there is hope for us all on budgets. I found way more affordable versions at  Forever 21 and H&M.

Winterize Your Peep Toes!

So you have some peep toe heels but worried to wear them in the winter? Don’t be! Get some opaque stockings (not sheer) and wear them. They look great and you are re-using all your shoes in the closet. I religiously wear peep toes to work and throw on some black or colored opaque stockings (depending on my outfit). Long gone are the days where you followed those old wives tales like the no white after labor day. Remember that? Throw all of that out the window and just enjoy fashion. Just try it once. I promise you will make it a habit.
