New Haircut!

New hairdo! I usually have my hair in wavy asymetrical bob but I decided to change it up a bit when Friday I could not get to my hair stylist at all. My gurlfriend washed and set my hair at home which turned out nicely and saved me some money too! I blew dry my hair straight on Sunday at the Dominicans for my cousin’s BBQ. Returned to work today and everyone thought I cut my hair and loved it straight! I didn’t cut it, but it looked different just because I wore it straight. So today on impulse, I went over to Seven Salon on 329 Rogers Avenue, Brooklyn, NYC and put my locks into Carla’s hands and she worked her magic. I love it! Next up, blonde pieces in the front next week.

Two Giveaway Wins in One Month!

Well it seems that the Accessories gods have shined their light on me. I won two giveaways!

The skull bracelets are from My Tee BAD and fellow blogger Ms. B. Bad from StyleMeBad.  I loved these bracelets instantly and have been given many many compliments. When it first arrived I thought they were actually three pieces connected as one.. And I loved the bow that held it together. Nic.. I think you should find a way to incorporate some bows. LOL. It came nicely packaged and a sweet note!.. I keep all my notes :) …  Nothing like an old school hand written thank you note!

So what I decided to do since the bracelets were not connected.. I gave one to my sis Strangeflowerz (follow her looks on my blog –she is almost always featured on my blog when we go out– and also her Instagram page) and one to my best girlfriend Pauliana who shops with me during work hours and endures my obsessions.. LOL. And it kind of became like our friendship bracelets! I wear mine almost everyday!

Her website is coming but follow her on twitter at @My Tee BAD for updates on when the site is ready and she is taking pre-orders!

I also won from Modgam’s Playground this lovely 3 piece set as well. These I am keeping together though. Mag has become a dear friend and the sweetest girl you will ever meet. She has featured some of the most awesome accessories and indie designers on her blog and she is now working with Nutcase Fashion based out of Hong Kong.

So many thank you’s to Nic @ Style Me Bad and Mag @ Modgam’s Playground for the items!

Happy Hunting!!!!

Mullet Tops & Dresses Rule!

For my girlfriend/cousin’s  birthday (we have known each other since we were 11), I decided to throw her a bash at Vodou Bar. Well, to be honest it wasnt supposed to be a bash, more low key than anything, but it turned out a lot bigger and actually A LOT of fun! As usual, drinks and food were on point. The music was great and the crowd was nice and ready to party. Most importantly, Shaniece (the birthday girl) had a great time!

I had alot of options that night to wear, but decided on shorts. I am not much of a shorts kind of girl until recent, but I couldnt pass up the tuxedo shorts. So I said ehhh why not.. I think it turned out cute.

Polka Dot Baby Doll Dress

Yesterday was so nice in NYC. Finally! All this rain and humidity had me in such a funk. Been gone for a week or so focusing on getting life back on track. I’m focused man!

I saw a picture a few days ago of Zoe Deschanel in a baby doll dress. And the caption read something like would you wear a babydoll dress and 60% of people said no. What?! Why?! Welp, I decided to take mine out the closet and I love it. It’s so comfortable and cute. Not to mention perfect for Spring days.

More Sunglasses from The Gift Man

I love The Gift Man. So I paid a return visit. Bought more shades and they had a new display. Old lamps with super hero lamp shades. Totally cute. And this time I met the owner, Jack. Hi Jack! The Gift Man was featured a few weeks back on my blog here. Definitely a place to get funky sunglasses and cute little gifts for people. I also got those grey frames from here also. His store is located on 176 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

Clutches from Heavenly Messages

On my way to get my hair done I stopped by the church next door which appeared to be having a like a market day and showcasing all of their goods and having a sale. After scanning the tables, I came across these bags. Super cute and real leather. Jennifer Francis of Heavenly Messages designed these. There were a few pieces that are not pictured here that I loved for a few reasons but mostly because they were sold to someone else already! A funny thing about that. I got a little annoyed with another woman there who had her own table (and not affiliated with Heavenly Messages from what I could gather), decided that I couldn’t take anymore pics. LOL. I told her and Ms. Francis I was a blogger and I loved these bags and would like to feature them. So Ms. Francis allowed me to take pictures (and this is not a reflection of her or her company at all) and then AGAIN the same woman stopped me! LOL! Telling me that is all.. Gee.. LOL. I guess she thought I was trying to steal Ms. Francis’ design? LOL. I don’t know. But anyway, I wish I could have taken more photos for you all so you can see the wonderful work she does. I have her line sheet and her business card and will be making an order or two for gifts for people. :)

The thing I really love about the clutches is the pop of colors and design. It kind of reminds me of my Aldo clutch in function (not design). Where you can fit a lot of stuff in it (lipstick, mirror, wallet, nail polish, emergency kit lol) and then fold it over and still look and feel compact.

If you like any of these bags, contact hvnlymessages@aol.com.
