I looked like a came out if a sci-fi flick today (so I was told). Nothing like an all black suit to walk around the city in the rain.

Hair slicked back thanks to tireless days at the gym. What do my Black girls do when you go to the gym every other day and your hair is short and it sweats out and then u have a Fro! I think I may weave it up for the rest of the summer. Short hair cuts are high maintenance. Any suggestions?

Happy Friday!

Louis Vuitton + Yayoi Kusama

Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with Yayoi Kusama is my eye candy. Infusing color and (my fave) POLKA DOTS, into Louis Vuitton! This collection is fun, flirty, sexy and modern feeling. Yayoi Kusama is an icon in the art industry and one of the biggest female artists of all time. Check out her exhibition at the Whitney Museum here in NYC. I plan to check it out sometime next week with photos!

Here are some of my fave items from the collaboration. You can purchase any of these items and more at Louis Vuitton.

Chromat

I came accross this collection this weekend browsing my normal stomping grounds online and was so excited that I found Chromat! The designs are bold, wearable- structured art, available to women like me who don’t always want to follow the latest trends but create their own. As a woman who isn’t afraid to take a risk on an outfit or be risqué, I am so impressed and inspired by Becca McCharen, the mastermind behind Chromat’s designs, way of just getting risqué right! The structures of her caged designs really exaggerate a woman’s shape in an S&M kind of way; exuding sex and sexyness without looking cheap. What’s even more amazing is that each piece (even down to the swim suits) can be pulled off (for those who dare) without leaving you to look like you came out of the pages of Lady Gaga’s dreams (although for some that would be a dream– [raising my hand].  I just adore this line and cant wait to get my hands on one of the caged dresses and headpieces. That Mickey Mouse headpiece is MINEEEEE!

Check out some of my favorite pieces from her A/W 2012 line and current collection below:

Her designs can be purchased online at Chromat and can be found in select stores in New York, California, Texas, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Peplum! Peplum!

Zara had their semi-annual sale and I was all in their racks and stocked up! I purchased this Peplum skirt for $40, among a few other items. We had a girls night out and saw Magic Mike and chowed down at Negrils in the West Village section of NYC. So it only made sense to dress somewhere in between casual and a notch or two below dressy. Throwing on my comfy wedges instead of stilletos and a cotton tank to pair with the skirt created that comfy look and feel that I was going for without looking like out of place and overdone.

Zara’s Mini Shopper + Bamboo’s Affordable Wedges

I had such a lovely stay-cation. I did nothing but go to the beach and sit poolside almost every single day… I cut myself off  from all social media and just enjoyed my time not thinking about anything. And now I’m back…

Going to work comfy has been my mission lately. With temps rising to 95 or even higher again this week, I really just wanted to throw something on and go. No muss or fuss with extras. Is that a cardinal sin for fashion lovers? Maaaaybe.. but I’ll risk it…

Simple does it in a loose one shoulder dress. Throw it on and belt it. This loose dress can hide trouble areas if u have any and slims the upper body if you have broad shoulders. Check out more options at Necessary Clothing. Instead of my signature large necklaces, I opted for larger earrings to bring in a little POW, in a low key kind of way. Yes. This is my low key. Lol.

The wedges I found are priced at $12.50 at where else– Strawberry Stores. They were on sale 1/2 off. How could I pass on that deal. Comfort without breaking the bank.

Zara’s mini shopper was a gift from my husband. Although pictured with handles, it does have a strap for your shoulder and an internal bag inside that can be removed. The bag is so spacious and made of 100% buffalo leather. I wear it everyday. When I love something, I run it to the ground. Lol. It is priced at about $90 and can be found for purchase in many other colors at Zara. This could be a great alternative for a “school bag”.

Happy Monday all! Back to work!
