My New Obsession….

Chunky neck pieces have become my all time favorite items to polish any outfit off and especially to make a statement no matter how simple an outfit may be.

I’m obsessed with these two pieces. Which one did I add to my collection?

Gotta check back in a few days to find out.

Have a great day!

Dance Africa 2012

A few weekends ago I went to the Dance Africa Festival in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. It was dreadfully hot, but I love coming to these festivals for the accessories and meeting people. I came at the tail end of the festival, but found a few cute things that I liked:

This bag is especially cute.

The chunky rings have got to be my favorite. I have the blue one.

More Sunglasses from The Gift Man

I love The Gift Man. So I paid a return visit. Bought more shades and they had a new display. Old lamps with super hero lamp shades. Totally cute. And this time I met the owner, Jack. Hi Jack! The Gift Man was featured a few weeks back on my blog here. Definitely a place to get funky sunglasses and cute little gifts for people. I also got those grey frames from here also. His store is located on 176 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

May 1st Geek!

It’s the first of May and with the rains, fog and humidity earlier in the day, came allergy attacks. Late for work to boot, I just threw something on quickly and figured since my eyes were too irritated for makeup, there was no better time to try out my new geek chic frames. I got mixed reviews… On the street, on my way to work and during lunch, I had soo many stares. The wierd thing is usually I will get the “suits” scanning me up and down (as I am a lot of the time dressed in office attire) but now it was “trendy/hipster” guys checking me out. No scanning up and down, just like all in my face saying hello. So I kind of found it interesting that this radically different look attracted different people (yeah, i know, I think way too much into things, lol). Maybe I look smarter or something? I don’t know. It could be also that they were grey and not the typical black so i stood out more? Anyways, the gurlies loved to hate it and then I had some were really nice girls who wanted to know where I got them while I was shopping at LF. Who says New Yorkers don’t talk to one another! I love these frames. Nothing like trying a new look!

I posted this pic because of my number one blog on everything shoes, Shoecloszet.com! The lovely author of the site and I sidetracked from commenting about her big news–She made 50k views today (congrats again!) to taking pictures of yourself and being photogenic. And I feel this picture doesn’t necessarily highlight my beauty but for some reason others found beauty in it. It just makes me that much confident in myself (because any blogger knows, it takes confidence to post yourself and your opinions for the world to view and scrutinize). So Ms. Shoecloszet, I am expecting to see your OOTD soon! xoxoxo.

Pretty In Punk

Mini Spotlight!

To back track on my night at Vodou, I noticed the bartender had some really cool earrings (what I thought were earrings at the time). When I closed my tab I asked her more about them and she said she made them! She is a jewelry designer. The “earrings” are actually hooks that go around your ear. Haawwwwwt!

And this is Shanel! Hi Shanel!!!

Administrative Professionals Day!

Happy Administrative Professionals Day to all of the admins in the world! We deal with a lot of shit and so if they don’t give us raises at least they shower us with nice gifts! I received this beautiful neck piece from Macy’s Charter Club brand. I actually really love this piece (not many people can buy for me). Can’t wait to wear it. I received a gift card from Sephora and these beautiful orchids pictured below the necklace (disregard my junkie office). I’d say this turned out to be a good day!

The Strut and Sam Edelman

I have probably worn these shoes about 4 times now and I finally had a chance to take a pic in them. I know, I know, I should be taking pics all the time. I promise I am getting better about it. More and more pics to come. It was so beautiful out yesterday in NYC. Ate at the greenspace in Union Square, got dust blown in my food by a moving vehicle, LOL, and managed to crack my shoe all on the same day. How did I manage that? Welp, the NYC streets are my runways and I strut when I walk like POW! BAM! and pose. And well I posed my way to a cracked heel. Not to worry I have an awesome, authentic, home-grown Italian shoe guy to fix these bad boys right up!

Sam Edelman purchase was featured on the blog previously. I got these beautiful comfy shoes for $39.99, originally $100. Read the previous post and alllll about my Marshalls escapade here.

Parting shot (a better close up of my necklace). Yes it was featured in another post if you may recall.. I love this chain and get tooooonns of compliments on it. I am a firm believer in rocking things that I love over and over and over again so long as the look is a different look every time I wear the item. So don’t throw anything out and yes I encourage you to be hoarders!

The Gift Man

Today while my husband was getting a haircut I decided to have some retail therapy. I was in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NYC. For those of you who don’t know about this part of Brooklyn, it’s only rated the #1 city to live in(sarcasm, rolling my eyes) within the USA, for a lot of reasons I don’t care to get into. LOL. Moving on. I popped into this unconventional vintage/novelty store, which had no name on the outside. There were racks and racks of sunglasses for dirt cheap so I decided to check out the whole store!  The only person who worked there, who I would later find out his name to be Joe, isn’t the owner, but has been living in Park Slope for all his life. Hey Joe!!!  The store had rare cool items like Indian dream catchers, good luck charms, trinkets, funny postcards, jewelry, etc.

Any who, I picked up two sunglasses ( I am slowly getting a collection of sunglasses :) ).

Anyone like to go shopping for groceries after work and want to be eco-friendly and still fashionable? They had these totes!! They roll up to a size of a wallet but open up much larger. Take it with you everywhere!

Isnt this the cutest tote?!

I also found some really neat “Alien”metal robots. This would look great in my little niche in my living room. Too bad my son would destroy it in a minute!

I really liked this store and would come back for some really cute thoughtful gifts for people!

So thank you Gift Man !
