Thought I’d share this great film, shot by John Mattiuzzi, featuring Hurricane Sandy, coming in and leaving with a bang. On full display, idiots wanting to get blown by the wind (ahem– Billyburg residents) and how quickly things disintegrated. Those who were not in NY or NJ, this is what some of us, who were fortunate not to lose it all, experienced. I think it sums it all up. Great film John.

Growing up in Park Slope, Brooklyn, I remember walking by Vinnies, every day, on my way back from school. I didn’t have a job back then so I did occasional browsing with my friends. YES! I was a window shopper! Don’t judge me! But let’s fast forward to now, with a larger flagship store, a store down in Atlanta, celebs/athletes/musicians as dedicated clientiele, I’d say Vinnies has made its mark. Located at the corner of Bergen Street and Flatbush Avenue, Vinnies is your high-end shop for men/teen boys (wishing for women stuff–hint, hint) looking for the cut above street wear.
The store itself stands out on its own. Very tidy and spacious with an open layout. The staff is friendly. To that end, there is nothing like having a welcoming feeling while with a kid in toe to me. Can’t tell you how many times I get the stink eye for bringing my kid in stores with me. Might I add that they actually remember their customers as well.
Ok so, their pieces are stocked and arranged in such a way that you can look through the racks without feeling overwhelmed. Their clothes and footwear are carefully curated. I have bought a few things from here for my husband and son and have not been disappointed by their selections. You wont find many of these brands in your typical shops. It is definitely for that guy or girl (who like menswear) that want that edge. With brands that range from B Wood, G-Star, Y-3, Adidas, Alexander McQueen to name a few, it’s definitely a shop that has a little something for everyone at all price points.
Adidas sneakers for my son. (pictures of him in them soon)
J loves t-shirts (me not so much for him) so for a happy medium I picked out funky ones.

While waiting for an “EXPRESS” train for 12 minutes (Oo), my girlfriend snapped some pics. Everywhere I go and I wear these sunglasses evryone asks me where I got them from or I get wierd stares like WTF does she have on her face? I love these shades. They look like teashades (think Ozzy Ozborne sunglasses) but a modern version. So I coined it modified teashades. I got them from the The Gift Man in Park Slope. I blogged about this store and its wonderful treasures. Check out the previous post here.
